He is the dean and professor of the School of Computer Science (School of Software) of Sichuan University, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of NSFC, and the State Council Expert for Special Allowance. Moreover, he is the director of China Artificial Intelligence Education Joint Association, vice chairman of Sichuan Computer Society, leader of Sichuan Province Academic and Technical, Sichuan Province Experts with Outstanding Contributions, and the associated editor of IEEE TNNLS since 2015. His researches have been published in several journals such as IEEE TNN, IEEE TFS, IEEE TSMC, IEEE TNNLS, IEEE TEC, IEEE TSP, IEEE TCYB, IEEE TETCI, ACM TALLIP, and top international conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, CVPR, AAAI, IJCAI, etc. His English monograph “Subspace Learning of Neural Networks” had been published in 2011. He also won the second prize of National Natural Science of China in 2019, the first prize of Natural Science of the Ministry of Education of China in 2012, the first prize of Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Award in 2011, and the CCF Excellent Doctoral Thesis Award in 2007.
